The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically changed most people’s work lives…including mine. I’m happy to do my part in keeping people safer. But my lifestyle now is quite different, since I normally spend a lot of time on the road: working at our tradeshow booths, speaking at events and visiting Clearfield®’s corporate headquarters. Now I’m working from home every day, having multiple video conferences and taking lots of photos to post.
Sound familiar? Would you say your household is using more network bandwidth than last year? Ours certainly is…and that’s just with two of us at home. Larger families are suddenly pushing their broadband capacity even further. Unfortunately, when doing this, video conferences may stutter, online games may freeze and people may have more trouble than usual getting access as parents and children vie for the internet.
Staying connected, no matter where you are, is crucial these days. Our industry is building momentum to 5G architectures for wireless communications. 5G has superb characteristics that should outshine today’s 3G/4G wireless networks. To do this, fiber-ready 5G antennas will need to be placed closer to you…whether you must be at work, if you’re home or even out on a walk. Our products make connecting wireless antennas faster, easier and deployable in any environment:
- By using Clearfield’s FieldShield® pre-connectorized cable assemblies, network operators reap craft-friendly benefits of bringing fiber to the antenna. Providers often do not have enough skilled technicians to keep pace with the service turn up their customers require. They have pushed back on manufacturers to come up with products that let them utilize entry-level techs to turn up customers quickly, which allows them to use those more experienced technicians deeper in the network where they can be more effective. That’s where pre-connectorized fiber comes in. Its plug-and-play approach makes connections a snap.
- At the Headend, or Central Office, where signals from multiple small cell antenna locations and signals from macro cell towers converge, our high-density and low-maintenance FieldSmart® FxMP patch panel makes it easy to connect all your network devices…with standard fiber optic patch cords.
- If more density is needed, our WaveSmart® line of optical components can be strategically placed along the fiber route to allow for splitting or multiplexing fibers (even in the harshest environments), without sacrificing signal strength.
No matter where you are in the wireless world, Clearfield will provide quality, reliable fiber optic products that make building and maintaining networks easier. We want you to get back to doing something important to you…whether it’s video conferencing with friends and family, posting a ton of photos or finding your first sourdough bread recipe. Broadband helps make this possible and is a reason I do what I do.
