Connections are our business and making those connections as seamless and painless as possible is our pride and joy. We are known for our continuing work in making fiber easy to connect while simultaneously reducing the time it takes for making connections by designing and manufacturing labor lite, craft friendly solutions of the finest quality, with superior form, fit and function.
Over the years, we’ve connected telcos, MSOs, wireless carriers of all types, utilities, municipalities, enterprise and military customers, learning the methods and needs of our customers and their unique environments - from floating data centers to Antarctic neutrino detectors. It’s a two-way street, with our customers’ experiences flowing into our multi-decade experience base, enlightening us on the many ways we can continuously improve the fiber installation process.
Two of our more recent innovations are BILT and the ClearPass® Dust Cap. The BILT® mobile app is an evolving catalog of 3D interactive installation instructions, available in the field at the installer’s fingertips. BILT provides installers an easy way to streamline the installation process, helping to reduce installation errors, time, and field issues by ensuring fiber technicians have access to “the manual” they need right at their fingertips, on the device they want – Apple iOS or Google Android – with no internet connection required.
Created from customer input, BILT is both a training tool and visual field reference guide providing step-by-step instructions on how to install Clearfield products correctly. Technicians of all ages can use the app to learn how to install Clearfield products, improving efficiencies and ensuring that the installation is done right the first time.
Improving first-time installations brings us to the ClearPass Dust Cap, our patented, integrated solution helping operators ensure the fiber end-face has a clean, dust-free connection surface. It’s the little things that add up, with tiny particles of dust causing big headaches by blocking fiber transmission signals, pockmarking end faces, and causing reflection. These issues often result in additional deployment costs and service disruption, something that adds up to more strain on field crews and more headaches in reaching and sustaining revenue.
Field installs are typically, well, dirty. There’s dust and dirt everywhere, from the relatively pristine racks of the data center to the freshly filled outdoor trenches of new builds. The ClearPass Dust Cap integrated cleaning tool has a 92% cleaning effectiveness rate when used on a Clearfield-terminated product, improving network turnup, reliability, and first pass yield.
BILT and the ClearPass Dust Cap are the most recent innovations we’ve added to improve the fiber connection experience, making processes both faster and, if you’ll forgive the pun, cleaner to improve reliability and decrease time and costs. In the months and years to come, we’re going to continue to innovate and improve the fiber connection process because it’s what is necessary for our customers to grow and thrive.
